Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Collect CUCM (and Business Edition) CDR files through the Lite Relay, as CUCM's billing server.

Documentation menu

Cisco Unified CM writes a call detail record (CDR) for every call leg and sends the files, about one a minute, to up to three billing application servers over SFTP. The Telyzer Relay on a Windows PC in your network can be that server: it reads each file, stores the records, and moves the file aside. Calls to hunt pilots and to UCCX queues are included, with the hunt pilot they came through.

1. Turn on CDR in CUCM

  1. In Cisco Unified CM Administration → System → Service Parameters → each server running Cisco CallManager, set CDR Enabled Flag to True.
  2. In the same page (cluster-wide), set CDR Log Calls with Zero Duration Flag to True, so unanswered calls are recorded and missed calls can be counted.

2. Prepare the relay PC as an SFTP target

  1. Install the relay as described in Windows Lite Relay; the -PbxIp option is not needed.
  2. Turn on the Windows OpenSSH Server feature on the same PC and create a local user for CUCM to sign in with.
  3. Tell the relay which folder CUCM will write to:
PowerShell (as Administrator)
& "C:\Program Files\Telyzer Relay\telyzer-relay.exe" watch-folder --dir C:\TelyzerCDR
Restart-Service TelyzerRelay

3. Add the relay PC as a billing server

  1. In Cisco Unified Serviceability → Tools → CDR Management, under Billing Application Server Parameters, choose Add New.
  2. Enter the relay PC's address, the user and password you created, protocol SFTP, and the folder above as the directory path. Turn on Resend on Failure.
Note: If CUCM already sends its CDR to an SFTP server of yours, leave it as it is and let the relay collect from that server instead: telyzer-relay add-sftp --host <server> --user <login> --password <password> --dir <folder>.

4. Set the record format in Telyzer

In the portal, open PBX connectors → your relay connector → Record format and choose Cisco Unified CM (CDR). Paste a few lines from a CDR file and choose Test layout to see how they are read. The two heading lines and the voice-quality (CMR) records are skipped.

How calls are read

  • A leg from a phone (device names such as SEP…, CSF…, BOT…, TCT…) to a gateway or SIP trunk is an outgoing call; the number is the one sent to the carrier.
  • A leg from a gateway or trunk to a phone is an incoming call; the number dialled is kept as the DDI.
  • Phone to phone is internal. CUCM times are UTC and are shown in the site's timezone.
  • Each CUCM record is one call leg, so a transferred call appears as one call per leg.
