Connect Avaya IP Office (direct push)

Point IP Office's SMDR output at your private Telyzer address and port. No software to install.

Documentation menu

With direct push, IP Office's SMDR (Station Message Detail Recording) output connects out to Telyzer and sends one record as each call ends. Each connector gets its own TCP port on the Telyzer gateway and accepts records only from the sender addresses you allow.

Before you start

  • Access to IP Office Manager or Web Manager, with rights to change and merge the configuration.
  • Your office's public IP address: the address your PBX's traffic comes from on the internet.
  • IP Office has one SMDR output. If another call logger already uses it, that logger stops receiving records once you point SMDR at Telyzer.

1. Create the connector

  1. In the portal, open PBX connectors → Add connector.
  2. Give it a name (for example “IP Office – Riyadh”), choose the site, and choose Direct push (no install).
  3. Allowed sender IPs: your office's public IP address(es), separated by commas. Leaving it empty accepts any address, which we do not recommend.
  4. Outside-line prefix: the digit your PBX shows before external numbers, such as 9. Leave it empty if there is none.
  5. Gateway port (optional): a port your firewall allows, between 40001 and 49999. Leave it empty to get the next free port.
  6. Choose Create connector. The connector shows the values to enter in IP Office: the SMDR “IP Address” and “TCP Port”.

2. Set SMDR in IP Office Manager

Open IP Office Manager (or Web Manager) → System → CDR/SMDR and set:

SettingValue
OutputSMDR Only
IP AddressThe IP address shown on your connector.
TCP PortThe port shown on your connector (40001–49999).
Records to Buffer3000 (the maximum).
Call Splitting for DivertsOn.

Save and merge the configuration.

3. Allow the connection through your firewall

IP Office opens the connection, so your firewall needs one outbound rule: TCP from the IP Office to the gateway IP address and port shown on the connector. No inbound rule is needed. Make sure the traffic leaves from an address on the connector's allowed list; records from any other address are not accepted.

4. Make a test call

Make an external call and hang up. The record arrives within a few seconds, and Recent records on the connector shows the lines received. The connector's status tells you where things stand:

StatusWhat it means
Waiting for first connectionThe PBX has not connected yet. Check the IP address, port, firewall rule and allowed IPs.
Connected, no calls yetThe PBX is connected. Make a call and hang up.
ReceivingRecords are arriving.
IdleConnected, but no recent records. A quiet line outside working hours is normal.

Changing the port

On the connector, choose Use a different port, enter a port between 40001 and 49999 and save. Then enter the same port in IP Office. The gateway switches to the new port within 30 seconds.

SMDR is not encrypted

Important: IP Office sends SMDR as plain TCP; Avaya's documentation describes no encryption option for it. Over the internet, the records (numbers, extensions, times) travel unencrypted. Restrict the connector to your office's IP address so no other sender is accepted. If records must be encrypted, use the Windows Lite Relay, which uploads over HTTPS.

If the connection drops

While IP Office cannot reach Telyzer (your internet link is down, for example), it keeps up to Records to Buffer records — at most 3000 — and sends them when the connection returns. Beyond that limit the oldest records are overwritten and lost. A busy site can produce 3000 records during a long outage, so if that matters to you, use the Windows Lite Relay, which stores records on disk.

Add a PBX stopped sending records alert to hear about a silent connector during working hours (see Alerts & wallboard).
